MOTH TRAPPING - SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS APRIL 2007

The 'air transportable' moth trap accompanied me on my family holiday to the Scottish Highlands. We stayed in Carrbridge and the holiday home backed onto the pine and birch forest there so I was expecting to trap some good moths. However although plenty of moths in number were recorded only 14 species were trapped. I failed on 2 of my target species, Rannoch Sprawler and Scarce Prominent but found Kentish Glory at Tulloch Moor, with 1 day flying male. I found the Clouded Drabs incredibly variable with forms very different from the ones found in the south.
