Ran the UV trap until it started raining at 23:00hrs, trapped Common Quaker and Grey Shoulder-knot (new garden tick, photo below).

Tried again with the UV trap. A poor night with only 1 of the early spring occuring Diurnea fagella found near the trap (photo below).

The second species of macro moth recorded in the garden this year caught last night in the UV trap, with 2 Chestnut.

Ran the UV trap for a few hours but caught no moths and packed it away as high winds and heavy rain forecast.

Fitted a new higher powered 25watt UV lamp to the moth trap and ran it for the first time this year in the garden. I was duly rewarded with a new garden tick, Winter Moth, with 3 trapped, photo of ♂ below. This is only a new record because I haven't run the traps in the winter before. The only other moth recorded was the tortrix, Light Brown Apple Moth a species that can be recorded in every moth of the year.

Fitted a new higher powered 25watt UV lamp to the moth trap and ran it for the first time this year in the garden. I was duly rewarded with a new garden tick, Winter Moth, with 3 trapped, photo of ♂ below. This is only a new record because I haven't run the traps in the winter before. The only other moth recorded was the tortrix, Light Brown Apple Moth a species that can be recorded in every moth of the year.
