The Clevedon Moth Group


The Constitution of the Clevedon Moth Group

  1. The Group shall be called "The Clevedon Moth Group".
  2. The aims of the group are:
  3. To establish the status and record all the migrant and resident moth species found in and around the Gordano Valley, North Somerset, England.

  4. To fulfil these aims:
  5. • The group will carry out regular moth surveys in member’s gardens and all likely habitats where access is permitted within the target area and at regular intervals.

    • Other activities, in furtherance of the aims or for the benefit of the group, shall also be undertaken from time to time as the members’ see fit.

    • All species where possible will be identified and recorded and this information will be made public when this does not have a detrimental effect on species or habitat.

  6. The recording area is the 2 towns of Portishead and Clevedon and the countryside and villages nearby. The area covered starts in the north at the River Avon and runs south to the River Yeo. It is bordered in the north west by the Bristol Channel and in the south east by the M5 motorway and falls entirely within Vice County VC6 North Somerset.
  7. The organisation shall apply for association to the British Entomological and Natural History Society, and shall observe the conditions of the Society.
  8. Membership shall be open to anyone interested in taking an active part in the activities of the group and willing to subscribe to any code of conduct and approved by the committee.
  9. The group shall hold regular meetings. All members shall be invited to these meetings, where each member will have one vote.
  10. Such officers shall be appointed as required to conduct the administration of the group. These include a chairman and a treasurer. These officers shall be in charge of the day to day running of the group, but shall be answerable to meetings of members.
  11. Accounts shall be kept by the treasurer, submitted to an independent inspection and approved at an AGM.
  12. If by common consent the group ceases to exist, any assets will be divided equally between the members once approved by the committee. The committee shall comprise of the officers of the group.
  13. This constitution shall only be altered by consent of a majority of the members at a meeting of the group.

Provisionally accepted at the Extraordinary General Meeting on 22/02/2007.
