Notice of the Gordano Moth Group and Bristol & District Moth Group field meeting at Walton Common, Clevedon. 4th July 2008.
A moth trapping field meeting is being planned for probably the best site in the Gordano Valley, Walton Common. The site consists of mixed woodland, wild flower meadow and calcareous grassland. Around this date last year we trapped amongst others - Reddish light Arches, White-line Snout, Dark Umber, Red-necked Footman and Satin Beauty at this site. Also if it is a nice day an early visit to the site might provide the opportunity for Cistus Forester.
At least 12 traps will be set-up by the locals and we will cover both the woods and the more open areas.
Parking is limited so unless taking traps into the area it is best to park on the coast road and walk into the site via the track at ST434747.
