Please excuse the lack of recent updates I have been on holiday in France so the garden trap has not been used in the last 2 weeks. A full moth'ing report with photos to be posted soon.

Single UV trap ran. 17 Large Yellow Underwing, 4 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Copper Underwing - see photos below illustrating the method of seperating these from the Svensson's trapped on the 5th Aug. Also singletons of Willow Beauty, Brimstone, Garden Carpet, Yellow Shell, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, Flame Shoulder, Common Rustic, Flounced Rustic, Marbled Beauty, Grey Dagger and Square-spot Rustic.
Copper Underwing Copper Underwing Palps - pale throughout.

A good night at home with 2 new species for the garden list, an Olive and a Lesser Swallow Prominent. Also in the 2UV/MV skinner trap, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing 26, Large Yellow Underwing 16, Brimstone 15, Common Rustic 5, Shuttle-shaped Dart and Marbled Green 4, Riband Wave 3, Garden Carpet, Willow Beauty, Double-striped Pug, Common Footman, Vine's Rustic, Pale Mottled Willow, Marbled Beauty, Cloaked Minor 2, Maidens Blush, Single-dotted Wave, Small Fan-footed Wave, Common Emerald, Ruby Tiger, Elephant Hawkmoth, Grey Dagger, Flame Shoulder, Coronet, Dun-bar, Rustic, Flounced Rustic, Turnip and Silver Y 1.

In the small UV trap - 14 Large Yellow Underwing, 6 Riband Wave, 5 Brimstone and Shuttle-shaped Dart, 3 Garden Carpet and Marbled Green, 2 Common Rustic and Marbled Beauty, 1 each of Willow Beauty, Lime-speck Pug, Common Footman, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Buff Ermine, Grey Dagger and Dun-bar.

39 species at the 2UV/MV trap last night. Large Yellow Underwing 10, Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing and Shuttle-shaped Dart both 8, Riband Wave 7, Brimstone 5, Silver Y 3, Dingy Footman and Dark Arches both 2. Singles of Pebble Hook-tip, Garden Carpet, Small Phoenix, Willow Beauty, Double-striped Pug, Magpie, Scalloped Oak, Pale Prominent, Iron Prominent, Buff-tip, Yellow-tail, Rosy Footman, Common Footman, Buff Ermine, Ruby Tiger, Heart & Club, Flame Shoulder, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Clay, Poplar Grey, Sycamore, Grey Dagger, Marbled Beauty, Marbled Green, Dun-bar, Common Rustic, Rustic, Pale Mottled Willow, Spectacle, Straw Dot and finally a new species for the garden Svensson's Copper Underwing. I have definitely overlooked this species before, counting them as regular Copper Underwings, however they have turned out to be almost as common locally as the latter. The palps are the key to convenient separation of the 2 species with Svensson's having dark palps with pale tips. In Copper Underwing they are pale throughout.
